~ GOSPELS ~

The word Gospel, literally translated, means “Good News”.  Four  “Good News” stories have been accepted by the Christian church throughout the world as clear witnesses to the meaning of the life of Jesus Christ.  Those four stories, also known as Gospels, are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  They have been gathered together as the first four books of the New Testament of the Holy Bible.  Other Gospels were written by the followers of Jesus Christ and later adherents to the teachings of this new religion, but have not been accepted by the Christian church as Scripture.  Scholars regularly debate the historicity of these documents, but Christians are less concerned with historical data and more interested in the epic truths contained within the stories.
